Data Entry Keyer Workplace Records

Data entry work includes checking source material, entering information and resolving inconsistencies. An employment concern about speed or accuracy needs the type of work and the correction procedure. Explain whether an error originated in your entry, the source supplied or a later revision, without assuming the answer from a final record.

May 2025 wage estimates by state

Compare your pay records with published BLS estimates for Data Entry Keyers (SOC 43-9021). These describe an occupation across employers. They are not a required pay rate, an overtime calculation, or evidence of discrimination or unpaid wages.

Select your work state to see its published pay range. No personal pay information is requested or sent.

The 25th and 75th percentiles mark the middle half of the estimated wage distribution; the median is its midpoint. Actual pay can differ with experience, employer, location and duties. Hourly and annual figures are shown as published, without converting one into the other.

“Not published” preserves unavailable or suppressed source cells. “Above reporting limit” preserves a top-coded source value without inventing a number. A missing state estimate does not establish service eligibility. The data describe wage and salary employment; they do not measure self-employment income.

Trace the source and correction

Describe the document category and instruction you used, then note how a discrepancy was identified. Record who authorized a correction and whether you verified it. Keep original and revised procedures distinct rather than treating a later rule as the instruction you had throughout.

Clarify the productivity measure

Identify whether the target counted characters, fields, forms or verified records and the period reviewed. Note illegible inputs, duplicate forms or system interruptions you reported. Compare your own schedule with assigned work, avoiding unsupported totals reconstructed from an incomplete batch history.

Protect the entered information

Do not export source documents, customer details or production datasets into a personal employment folder. Describe record types and approved locations for review. Keep your own evaluation and permitted correction correspondence without attaching the private information you normally enter as part of the job.

Choose your next step

Review the workplace retaliation guide, unpaid wages guide, or discrimination guide if those concerns fit your experience. A job title alone does not establish a claim.
