Repair and Installation Helper Workplace Records

Installation and repair helpers may supply tools, assist with assembly and clean a work area while following a skilled worker’s direction. An employment concern needs the specific duty and supervision involved. Do not assume that a broad occupational description establishes your training or authorization for every repair task.

A missing state estimate does not establish service eligibility. The data describe wage and salary employment; they do not measure self-employment income.

Identify the instruction and assistance

Describe the equipment category, task you were asked to assist with and directing role. Note when a duty changed or you requested clarification. Distinguish work you performed from the technician’s diagnosis, approval or final inspection, especially when a later account combines several people’s actions.

Track support work around the repair

Record collecting tools, preparing materials, waiting for direction and cleanup relevant to your own schedule. Note a parts shortage or move to another job and who directed it. A closed work order may not capture every support activity or your individual hours.

Keep records within permission

Use your own training, pay and permitted employment messages. Do not take equipment drawings, customer files, access details or confidential repair histories. Identify relevant records for review without operating equipment, reconnecting components or returning to a restricted site solely to gather evidence.

Choose your next step

Review the workplace retaliation guide, unpaid wages guide, or discrimination guide if those concerns fit your experience. A job title alone does not establish a claim.
